staff judgment covers what the rules do not.
No rule list covers every situation. If your behaviour damages the experience of others, staff can act on it even if no line below names it exactly. Senior staff discretion supersedes the written rules where the two conflict. The Terms of Use and Discord rules apply everywhere; this page covers how we play on the server.
1. how the rules work
AUREK is an Imperial Star Wars RP server. You play Imperial personnel — stormtroopers, shock troopers, naval crew, Inquisitors and agents of the Empire — aboard an Imperial vessel and on deployment. Two kinds of rules apply:
- Out-of-character (OOC) rules protect real people and the server. Breaking them leads to warnings, kicks or bans handled by staff.
- In-character (IC) rules are the Empire's own regulations. Breaking them is handled in roleplay — usually an arrest by the shock troopers — and is often part of the fun. Deliberately farming IC punishments to waste people's time crosses back into OOC territory.
If a staff member tells you to stop doing something, stop first and ask questions afterwards. If you think a decision was wrong, raise a ticket in Discord rather than arguing in the middle of a scene.
2. general conduct (OOC)
- No RDM — do not kill or damage players without a legitimate roleplay reason.
- No harassment, discrimination, sexism, racism, homophobia, hate speech or slurs. Zero tolerance, in any chat, on any character.
- No minging: joining to troll, disrupt scenes, mic-spam or annoy people is not roleplay.
- No exploiting bugs, glitches, map holes or unintended mechanics for advantage. Report them instead.
- No advertising other communities or recruiting AUREK players elsewhere.
- No ERP or sexually explicit content of any kind.
- No punishment evasion — evading a ban, arrest-dodging by disconnecting or switching characters to escape consequences will extend the punishment.
- Usernames and character names must be readable and appropriate. Staff may require a rename.
- No trading in-game items, ranks, whitelists or currency for real money outside the official store.
- Respect staff decisions during a sit. Appeals belong in Discord tickets, not in OOC chat.
3. roleplay standards
- No FailRP. Act like the character you are playing would act. A stormtrooper does not backflip through the mess hall screaming memes.
- No powergaming. Do not declare unilateral success over another player ("/me disarms you"). Give people a chance to respond.
- No metagaming. Information your character did not learn in roleplay (Discord, OOC chat, spectating) cannot be used in roleplay.
- Stay in character during active scenes and events. Use OOC chat for out-of-character matters, and keep it brief.
- New Life Rule. When your character dies in roleplay, you forget the events leading to that death and may not return to the same scene for its duration unless a gamemaster says otherwise.
- Value your life. Characters under threat behave like people under threat — surrender, comply or retreat when the odds are hopeless.
4. character rules (IC — breaking these gets you arrested)
in character
These are the Empire's regulations. Violations are punished in roleplay by the shock troopers — arrest, demotion or worse. That is the game working as intended.
- Do not attack Imperial personnel except in legitimate self-defence while actively being harmed.
- Obey the chain of command: your regiment's officers, the Imperial Navy and members of the Inquisitorius.
- Do not enter another regiment's bunks or restricted areas without authorisation.
- Weapons stay holstered unless you intend to use them. Drawing on a whim is a regulation breach.
- One officer role per person per regiment. Rare exceptions require high command approval.
- Do not tamper with ship systems, alarms or terminals you are not assigned to.
- No jumping from designated high areas of the ship "to see what happens."
- Behave during briefings and debriefs — disruption there is a severity-4 offence (see arrests below).
- Inciting or joining an uprising, mutiny or defection requires an approved event and gamemaster oversight — never do it off your own back.
5. regiments & troopers
- Joining a regiment (shock, infantry, specialist units) is encouraged but never mandatory — you can play as a standard stormtrooper for as long as you like.
- Each regiment may field at most three executive officers: two for the main unit and one for its sub-unit.
- Regiment officers run their own tryouts, trainings and internal structure within these rules.
- Switching regiments repeatedly to chase promotions ("regiment hopping") may be restricted by staff.
7. the inquisitorius (whitelisted)
whitelist
Inquisitor characters are a whitelisted role. Whitelists are earned in the community or available through the AUREK store, and remain subject to every rule on this page.
- Force abilities are restricted while the ship is at alert level 5 (calm) — training in designated areas excepted.
- Only Inquisitors formally linked to a regiment, or the Grand Inquisitor, may issue orders to troopers. Otherwise, requests go through the Navy or regiment officers.
- Inquisitors fight with their sabers and the Force — no grenades, no stimulants, no looted blasters.
- A lightsaber is never ignited without purpose. Casual ignition in halls or briefings is a regulation breach.
- At most one Grand Inquisitor and a limited senior circle exist at any time; seniority within the Inquisitorius is managed by its own hierarchy with staff oversight.
- Hunting "Jedi" or Force-sensitives is event content — coordinate with a gamemaster, never freelance it.
8. ISB & imperial officials
- ISB agents and visiting Imperial officials may access restricted areas in the course of their duties.
- They do not command troopers directly and troopers do not command them; taskings go through the Navy.
- Officials are not above the law — they remain subject to arrest for regulation breaches, and may authorise the release of detainees within reasonable limits.
9. shock troopers & arrests
- Shock troopers are the ship's military police. They may arrest any personnel breaking IC regulations, and must state the specific reason for the arrest.
- A verbal warning comes first — except for severity-4 and above offences (assaulting personnel, restricted-area intrusion, jumping from designated areas, debrief disruption), which are arrest-on-sight.
- Regiment officers may bail their own arrested members, at the shock troopers' reasonable discretion and with the detainee's sentence recorded.
- Abusing arrest powers — arrests without reason, ignoring bail rules, targeting a player OOC — is an OOC offence handled by staff.
10. event characters (whitelisted)
- Playing an event character requires gamemaster permission, every time.
- Event characters exist for the event: they stay off the ship except while their event is active.
- While playing one, the gamemaster's directives override everything except the OOC rules.
11. events
- Event participation is optional and can never be forced — but if you join, follow the gamemaster.
- Gamemasters have full authority over the flow of their event, including temporary local rules they announce.
- Deliberately derailing an event is a fast route to removal from it, and repeat offences to a ban.
- Something felt off about an event? Use the event feedback form — it goes straight to the owners.
12. claimable rooms & simulations
- NCOs and above may claim a training room — one claim per regiment at a time.
- Simulations must give a one-minute evacuation notice before starting and may not be used to target specific individuals.
- Running simulations to farm credits, XP or any profit is prohibited.
- Trainings happen in appropriate, unclaimed areas; tryouts use designated rooms or the regiment's own bunks.
13. debrief
Debrief after major events follows a formal structure, and everyone attending is expected to keep immersion:
- Opening — fall in, salute, be seated on command.
- Navy & officer remarks — recognition and operational notes.
- Promotions — earned ranks are awarded in front of the ship.
- Closing remarks — final orders and dismissal.
- Gamemaster feedback — a short OOC word on the event; give yours through the feedback form.
